Frazer & Jones has 150 years’ experience in the solidification processing of iron alloys. It is one of the oldest manufacturing processes, because it is the principal manufacturing component of metal casting processing.
Frazer & Jones evolution of the solidification science has evolved over many years from the need to better understand and further develop casting processes. Solidification software today is at the forefront of many new developments that fall out of the realm of traditional metal casting.
Solidification is analyzed into each part and is achieved through pattern gating that directs molten iron metal flow to critical areas of the pattern. This design is proprietary to Frazer & Jones. The result is the successful transformation of liquid matter into solid matter to achieve a porosity free high quality iron casting.
The microstructure that results from solidification directly affects the mechanical properties of the product. Frazer & Jones also engages in heat treatment or other processes that may be used after solidification to further modify the solidification microstructure.
